Dear God, the last thing I have time to do today is blog. Yet here I am. I have a few things I want to share, and after today, The Big Dog is off for 5 days, it's family time, and I don't know when I'll get back to the computer for blogging purposes. I am super excited for the holidays this year! But first, a few happenings here...
Last week I shared few peeks at some projects I was working on. I can't wait to show final products! We "sprinkled" my sister-in-law last weekend! They've already given us a beautiful niece, and in January, we'll be adding another little boy, my first blood nephew! I'm so excited for them to become parents of a little boy, since, obviously, I am partial to little boys! So, she already has a lot of what she needs, so I wanted to do something I knew she didn't have! I decided to make monthly onesies for him to have his picture taken in, so they can watch his growth, and also just to wear. I found a link to a blog on Pinterest which led me to the free downloadable files for the months. I printed them onto transfer paper. I bought 3 onesies sized 0-3, 3 size 3-6, and 6 size 6-12 months. I also got a cute basket that will match the trim in "Nugget"'s room. Here are some pics of the process. By the way, I have the onesies laying on an ironing board, but you have to do this on a hard surface, so I actually did them on the counter. It took all day because I learned quickly that you have to iron the onesie, let it cool, iron on the paper, let it cool, then peel. So, letting everything cool completely took a while.
I'm pretty happy with the way they turned out. I will post the link later when I can figure out exactly how to do that! They also have links for colors that are better for girls. Now I am totally obsessed with making things with transfer paper!
The other project I was working on is not nearly as fun, yet it's something I've used daily since it's completion. I had these extremely cheap picture frames and I wasn't really sure what to do with them. So I grabbed my chalkboard paint and went to work. Here's one of the things I made from the frame. I haven't ever had an actual calendar in our office. I'm not sure why...isn't that something you really should have in an office? So, I thought this would be great. While it is a little difficult to write on, it does serve it's purpose since I am pretty much constantly wondering what day it is! So, I'm pretty happy!
The other frame is similar, but it's broken into a week so that I can write what we're having for dinner each night. So far it hasn't really gotten a whole lot of use, but I think it's cute! Total time for these chalkboard projects was about 5 minutes to paint them (I did two coats, letting the first one dry completely first) and then maybe about 5 minutes to draw on the month/week.
Another project that we did in our house last week was our "Thankful for Our Family Turkey". Once again, got the idea from Pinterest. We had fun picking the colors of our turkey and tracing our hands. Even the Big Dog didn't mind doing this! Here's our turkey.
I absolutely LOVE our turkey. Here's my plan. For Halloween this year, the boys made footprint ghosts and we used this same white frame (an old, ugly frame painted white) to display them.
New obsessions!

So, when I wanted to display our turkey, I didn't want to just toss the ghosts aside. So I grabbed a three-ring binder that I just happened to have, and decided to start putting all of these special holiday decoration/family projects in one place!
I can't wait to search for a family/kid Christmas project to go in the frame!
New obsessions!
1 ~ PAPER!!!! Yes! I have discovered that I have an absolute obsession with pretty paper. While at Joann's last week getting the transfer paper, I happened past a display of fall paper that was all 40% off! Really???? So, I of course had to get it! I mean, I ended up paying $15 for these two packs together!

3 ~ Stromboli Casserole!
So, I take Snip, Snail, and Puppy to my mom's house once a week for dinner and just to hang out. This past week, my mom surprised me with a new dish. I instantly fell in love, and when she gave me the recipe and I made it for my own family, I fell even more in love. Stromboli as a casserole. Really. Might be the easiest, tastiest thing ever. And my whole family LOVED it!
- 2 pkgs of crescent rolls (I used the seamless dough sheet seen above! Cause it's AWESOME!)
- 1/2-3/4 lb. of baked ham sliced thin
- 1/2-3/4 lb. sandwich pepperoni sliced thin
- 1/4-1/2 slice provolone (I found that 10 slices worked perfectly!)
- 6 eggs
- 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
Mine was done after 35 min. It was fantastic! I put a bowl of sauce out, too. Snip and Snail didn't need sauce, but we did. Also, Big Dog and I discussed how easy it would be to throw in ground sausage, peppers, onions, etc. You could probably even throw some sauce in there, too. Ridiculously easy and yummy! This is going to become a staple in this house!!
And now it's time for......
That's What Little Boys Are Made Of....
Snip's eye is on the mend and this week he had his 2nd Thanksgiving Day program at his preschool. Last year he was THAT KID who was front and center, yelling his songs, and wiggling. I was hoping he'd be better this year...well, he was a little better! Still just as stinkin' cute....I couldn't be more proud!

The Big Dog, Snip, and Snail also set up the trains in the basement for the season. Snip has been asking for an electric train since summer. It's all he wants. He is completely obsessed and has been playing with them ever since they went up. These trains are 60 and 30 years old. Snip will be getting a nice one from Santa this year....can't wait to see his face!
Snail's room got painted and his bedding arrived! It's hidden, of course, since Santa is bringing it, but I busted it out to get a preview at how the "Bat Cave" is going to look! I am super excited for his furniture to come on the 28!
And the Puppy? Well, I'll just leave you with this...cause I simply can't stand how stinkin' cute he is!!!
And lastly, I leave you with this...I didn't do a "I'm thankful for..." every day on Facebook this year because I thank God every day for all I have, not just through November. I don't know what Big Dog and I did to be so blessed....all four of our parents are happy and healthy, we are happy and healthy, and we have three beautiful, vibrant, healthy, funny, full-of-life boys. We have the most amazing friends in the world, amazing people in our lives, and we are fortunate to live in this absolutely amazing country (thanks to those who have served and currently are serving) and in this beautiful state, and this fantastic town where people are working hard all the time to make this a great place to live! I talk to God every day and ask him to help me not to fuss over the little things, because I've been blessed with so much. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday with lots of laughs, memories made, yummy food eaten, and joy!
Bye for now.....
